At the ANTAS AGM on 13 October 2018, the meeting agreed to the motion before it that ANTAS should be wound up (see News page).

Much of the material on this website is therefore overtaken and now out of date.  However, it was agreed that website will continue in existence for up to 2 years mainly as an archive, but it may have a continuing role in helping the former members of ANTAS to get in touch with one another.

ANTAS is an association of local civic societies working to ensure high standards of planning and architecture in our towns and villages, and the care and preservation of our countryside.  We have a current membership of 21 societies mainly in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Many ANTAS member Societies are members of the Civic Voice organisation.  ANTAS member societies in the Eastern Region also participate in East of England Civic Societies.

We hold two meetings a year. These are attended by representatives from our member societies and provide an opportunity for vigorous, lively and informative discussion on matters of common interest. A wide range of guest speakers on planning and related subjects has also proved popular with members.

Lunch is an important part of our meetings.  It is the opportunity to follow up on the ideas aired earlier during the formal session, to explore what another Society is doing and to see how you might use the ideas.

We support our member societies in their dealings with local planning authorities and provide help and advice wherever possible.

If you feel that you are facing challenges as an amenity society, join ANTAS.  You may find a solution, you will certainly find that you are not alone.
